Terms and Conditions
Normal terms and conditions of rental apply at all times.
All quoted rates include VAT, 24 hour breakdown/recovery service and insurance, and are subject to availability. An insurance excess of £2000.00 applies on all rentals. Our insurance company doesn’t offer a waiver however if you GOOGLE hire insurance excess cover you can take out your policy to cover the excess, the if any damage occurs you would pay us & claim back from policy.
Our insurance does not cover theft of property from within the vehicle, so vehicles should be parked in appropriate locations with the doors and windows locked, and any valuables should be out of sight. Our insurance also does not cover the driver’s personal injury or loss of life.
Our Collision Damage Waiver does not cover lost or damaged keys, the cost of any damage or loss remaining the responsibility of the hirer. The hirer shall also be responsible for damage to the interior of the vehicle or recovery costs from an off road location following a road traffic accident when no other vehicle is involved.
In all instances, the hirer will remain responsible for damage to the roof or upper part of the vehicle caused by trees, bridges, height warning markers and car park ceilings. The hirer will also be responsible for rectification costs if the wrong fuel type has been used.
Punctures/Damaged Tyres
Any damaged tyre must be replaced as soon as possible. Some cars are supplied with space saver spare wheel or a tyre inflation kit. Please abide by the speed restrictions stated on these items if you have to use either one.
Insurance cover is for mainland UK.
Animals
Animals are not allowed in our vehicles without prior approval.
Drivers
Drivers must be aged 25 to 70 years Drivers must be in possession of a full UK Driving Licence for the category of vehicle rented. Overseas visitors must produce a valid domestic driving licence or an international driving permit accompanied by a passport. Drivers are required to have held a full clean driving licence for a minimum of 12 months. No person other than than the renter or approved additional drivers may drive the vehicle.
Certain endorsed licences may be accepted – please check prior to confirming your reservation.
Driving Licences and Identification
Our insurers require us to have sight of the driver’s licence and two additional forms of identification, confirming the renter’s address and signature. Acceptable forms of ID include recent (within the last three months) utility bills, bank statements, passports and other forms of photographic ID.
Please note: All hirers must generate an eight digit access code on the DVLA website to allow us to check licence details. Please log on to the DVLA website here View Driving Licence You will then need to enter your Licence number, National Insurance number and Post Code. This will allow you to see your licence details. You will then need to click the “Share My Licence” button and “Generate Code” button. This will create a case sensitive eight digit code which you must print off or write down accurately and present it to us – effectively authorising us to check your licence details. This code is valid for 21 days and expires when we use it.
Additional Drivers
Additional Drivers may be authorised subject to providing us with the same details and information as the main driver/renter and satisfying our insurers criteria. Each additional driver costs £6.00 plus vat per day.
Car Rental
Minimum rental period is one day. A mileage allowance of 200 per day or 1000 per week applies. Excess mileage is charged at 10 pence plus VAT per mile.
Van Rental
When renting a van, it may be significantly larger than the vehicle you are used to driving. Please make allowances for this when cornering and parking. Most vans only have wing mirrors, which should be used appropriately.
Payment
All rentals are payable on commencement. The rental charge must be paid in full. Additionally, as all vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel a refundable deposit of £250.00 is required on all rentals. The deposit may be retained if the vehicle is returned with new damage.
We accept Mastercard and Visa cards and a credit or debit card in the drivers name must be provided at the beginning of each rental.
Rental Extensions
Subject to availability, rentals may be extended by contacting the rental office prior to the end of the initial rental period. Payment for the period of the extension will be required to ensure that the vehicle remains insured.
Vehicle Availability
To avoid disappointment vehicles should be booked in advance. Models shown and general descriptions are for guidance only, and while every effort is made to comply with requirements, we cannot guarantee a specific model.
Fuel
The vehicle will be supplied with a full tank of fuel. The type of fuel will be confirmed at the time of hire. There will also be a label close to the filler nozzle on the vehicle. You should return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. Re-fuelling charges will include a surcharge.
Parking
Any costs associated with illegal parking are the responsibilty of the hirer.
Upholstery
Please select the most appropriate vehicle for the load which you intend to carry. Upholstery and the remainder of the interior should be protected from damage and staining. Any pet hair should be removed prior to the return of the vehicle as well as any smells. If additional valeting is required, charges will apply. It is forbidden to carry any hazardous chemicals in any vehicle.
Out Of Hours Returns
Vehicles may be returned outwith office hours. The drop-off procedure will be confirmed prior to your departure.
Please Note: The vehicle will remain the responsibility of the hirer until our staff inspect it when our office re-opens.
In the event of a breakdown
All of our vehicles are covered with 24 hour breakdown and recovery service. The appropriate telephone number is printed on your rental agreement. The rental branch should be advised of any breakdown
In the event of an accident
If an accident should occur, please ensure that you collect the names and addresses of everyone involved including any witnesses. Make a note of the location and prepare a sketch map of the accident and if possible take photographs confirming the location of each vehicle involved as well as the damage on each. This information should be supplied to the rental office as soon as possible.
